What is a Haiku?
A haiku is a form of Japanese poetry. Traditional haikus in English have three lines, and a specific number of syllables per line:
Line #1 = five syllables
Line #2 = seven syllables
Line #3 = five syllables
Here’s a sample haiku, using the 5-7-5 structure:
Beware a dog’s love
The tongue that kisses your face
Also licks his butt.
Although one of the goals behind writing a Haiku is to package profound feelings and thoughts into a relatively small space, for the purposes of Haikute, we’ll accept anything as long as it’s funny and/or cute! =)
